Based on last year’s positive response, organizers of the sixth annual Hike for Hospice will continue with a virtual event this spring.

The walk is scheduled to take place from April 25 to May 1 at Mud Creek Trail in Chatham.

“With the success of last year’s virtual hike, we’re sticking to this format so families can hike Mud Creek Trail any time of the week,” said event chair Giri Thommandram, in a press release. “We have received such great feedback on adding memorial signs to the trail that we are offering this opportunity again this year.

“If you can’t make it to Mud Creek, you can still participate remotely by hiking wherever you want – on another trail, in your neighborhood, or even in your own home.”

Registration for the virtual event is free. Participants will be able to purchase a commemorative t-shirt, as well as commemorative signs.

Hikers are encouraged to collect donations to support the residents and families of Chatham-Kent Hospice.

The funds are intended to ensure families continue to receive free, compassionate end-of-life care, the organization said.

The ride is presented by Battery Boy and supported by JMRD Watson Wealth Management Group, along with other sponsors.
