The 2021 WNBA Playoffs are in full swing. See below for first round results, an updated playoff schedule and schedule, as well as TV channel information for this weekend’s second round games.

Quick reminder: how do the WNBA playoffs work?

The playoff format is the same in 2021 as recent seasons. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season – regardless of the conference – have advanced to the WNBA playoffs.

A team’s regular season standings matter: the top two teams received a semi-final round pass, while the third and fourth ranked teams received a second round pass. The first and second rounds are knockout, while the semi-finals and finals feature a best-of-five format.

Since the current WNBA playoff format was adopted in 2016, only once (2018) have the two teams that placed the best of five finals distinguished themselves from the top two teams at the end of the regular season. That year, the Washington Mystics (ranked third) beat No.2 Atlanta Dream to advance to the WNBA Finals. (The Mystics went on to lose in the final 3-0 to the top-ranked Seattle Storm.)
