Danbury, Conn. — A 1.47 acre redevelopment project brought the new 7-Eleven store format to New England.
The 5,230-square-foot store, operated by ANZ Petroleum, includes a drive-thru, 7-Eleven Laredo Taco Company’s exclusive quick-service restaurant and indoor seating, and a six-dispenser fuel island , including diesel.
The store began operations on February 11, after the grand opening ceremony attended by the Mayor of Danbury, Dean Esposito, who conducted the official inauguration.
The former landowner approached ANZ Petroleum in 2019 to sell the site after a long-term contract with Cumberland Farms ended after several years of zoning and development work, the company said. This was during a time when EG America was in the process of acquiring Cumberland Farms.
Working with Petroleum Equity Group (PEG) of Chappaqua, NY, ANZ concluded that the site was suitable for gas, convenience and QSR use.
“We are very pleased to have 7-Eleven as tenants in this magnificent facility serving the Danbury community,” said Mir Ahmed, Chairman of ANZ Petroleum. “Furthermore, we could not have achieved this successful outcome without the expert advisory services provided to us by PEG’s downstream fuels industry veteran Ken Shriber.”
Neal D. White Jr. of Cramer & Anderson, with multiple locations in Connecticut, served as legal counsel to ANZ Petroleum.
ANZ Petroleum owns, operates or controls numerous gasoline retail and convenience store locations, including a big box travel center with QSR and Tesla charging stations, and where it is a 7-Eleven and Sonic franchisee Drive-In. The stores are located in Fairfield County and other parts of Connecticut and fly the flags of the Valero, Sunoco and CITGO brands. Several stores have a Krispy Krunchy Chicken food offering.
Petroleum Equity Group is a full-service consulting firm for the downstream fuels and convenience store industry.
